Palisade Rim Trail

This dog-friendly trail is a 3.3 mile popular out and back located 0.8 miles from Palisade Basecamp RV Resort. Featuring spectacular river and valley views, the trail is rated as moderate and is open to hikers and mountain bikers alike. Elevation gain = 616 ft.
Directions:
From Palisade Basecamp, travel East on N River Rd to the stop sign at HWY 6. Turn right, the trailhead parking lot will be on your immediate right. The trail begins approximately 100 yds to the South of the parking lot on the East side of the highway.
Riverbend Park

This dog-friendly trail is a moderately trafficked out and back located 2.4 miles from Palisade Basecamp RV Resort. This hike follows the Colorado River and is open to hikers, runners and cyclists alike. Elevation gain = 29 ft.

From Palisade Basecamp, travel West on N River Rd approx 1.2 mile, turn Left on Main St approx 0.3 miles, turn Right on Hwy 6 approx 0.2 mile, turn Left on Logan Ct approx 0.5 mile to trailhead parking.
Mt. Garfield

This dog-friendly trail is a 3.8 mile popular out and back located 3.8 miles from Palisade Basecamp RV Resort. Featuring spectacular views and beautiful wild flowers, the trail is rated as difficult and is open to hikers only. Elevation gain = 1,886 ft.
Directions:
From Palisade Basecamp, travel West on N River Rd approx. 1 mile, turn Right on Bower Ave approx. 0.1 mile, turn Left on E 1st St. approx 0.6 mile, turn Right on Elberta Ave approx. 0.2 mile, turn Left on G 7/10 Rd approx. 1.5 mile. G 7/10 Rd turns into 35 8/10 Rd, continue under I-70 to trailhead parking.

Directions:
From basecamp, take N River Rd for 2.5 mi to I-70 West. For 22 miles take I-70 West to CO-340 East in Fruita. Exit on 19 from I-70. Follow CO-340 East for 2.6 mi to Rimrock Dr. Take Rimrock Dr for approximately 2.6 mi until you reach the Colorado National Monument entrance.
Colorado Riverfront Trail

This paved trail follows the Colorado River from Loma through Fruita, Grand Junction and Palisade. You will see beautiful views of several parks, lakes mountains, monuments and recreational amenities on your walk or bike ride.
Directions:
From Basecamp, take N River Rd for 2.5 mi to I-70 West. Follow I-70 West for 15.8 mi to I-70 BL W/US-50 W/US-6 W in Grant Junction. Take exit 26 from I-70 West. Continue on I-70 BLW/US-50 W/US-6 W for 0.9 mi until you reach Railroad Blvd where you will find the start of Riverfront trail.

About:
The Palisade Fruit & Wine Byway, divided into 3 routes, is a great way to experience orchards, gardens, world-class vineyards, premium wineries & fresh farm market fruit stands, either by bicycle or car. Please refer to the Palisade Chamber of Commerce Adventure Guide for map and more info.
Grand Mesa National Scenic & Historic Byway
About:
The Grand Mesa is the largest, flat-topped mountain in the world, spanning 500 square miles and rising from 5k to over 11k. The scenic drive begins at exit 49 (just 5 exits from Palisade Basecamp) off I-70 on CO-65 and travels east toward Cedaredge and ends on HWY 50 near Delta. It can be done in reverse as well. Plan on a few hours to complete this drive, and more in the Winter months. There is a 13-mile side trip to the Land’s End Observatory which adds between 40-60 minutes to the drive. Recreation includes but is not limited hiking, camping, fishing, boating, ATVing, horseback riding, alpine and nordic skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, snow biking, and more. There are visitors centers, lodges and a few small towns for services.
Colorado National Monument
About:
The Colorado National Monument is located on the west side of Grand Junction, CO. From I-70 take exit 19 in Fruita onto CO Route 340 and head south. Turn left onto Rim Rock Drive. One of the grandest scenic drives of the American West, the 23 mile Rim Rock Drive offers redrock canyons, wide-open skies and glorious views for both motorists and cyclists. This windy, slow drive provides access to Saddlehorn Visitor Center and Campground, 19 signed viewpoints and 14 hiking trails ranging from 1/2 mile to 14 miles. On the East side of the monument is Bangs Canyon BLM Recreation Area, with unlimited exploration for hiking, biking, canyoneering and more.
